The British Columbia Branch of The Nautical Institute is pleased to host its next technical seminar on the highlights of submarine HMCS Corner Brook’s 2025 Program and future plans for 2026 to operate in support of the Defense of Canada, and to generate the submariners which will crew our next generation of submarines.

Our Speaker: LCdr Clark Hubbard - Commanding Officer, HMCS Corner Brook

LCdr Hubbard joined the Royal Canadian Navy in the 2009. After completing his studies at Simon Fraser University in 2011 he underwent warfare officer training before joining Canadian Fleet Atlantic and sailing in the frigates HMCS Ville de Quebec, Toronto, and Montreal as a bridge watchkeeper and ship’s diving officer. During that time, he deployed on Op CARIBBE in the Caribbean Sea and Op ARTEMIS in the Indian Ocean.

Upon completing his lieutenant's board in 2015, he began submarine training in Victoria and qualified off the coast of Norway in HMCS Windsor. Subsequent highlights include operating in the Mediterranean Sea on Op SEA GUARDIAN in HMCS Windsor, deploying to Japan on Op PROJECTION in HMCS Chicoutimi, and COVID sailing in HMCS Victoria. In the spring of 2022 LCdr Hubbard was promoted to his current rank and appointed the Executive Officer of HMCS Corner Brook in February of 2023 and sailed in 2024 as the XO of HMCS Windsor.

LCdr Hubbard has also trained and worked with the United States Navy and Royal Netherlands Navy, sailing to the Beaufort Sea in USS PASADENA as part of ICEX 22 and completing the United States Navy’s Submarine Command Course Serial 78 about USS NEW MEXICO and USS DELAWARE, and later completing the RNLN Attack Coordinator Course in 2023 and Submarine Commander’s Course (“Perisher”) in 2025 aboard HNLMS Zeeleeuw.

LCdr Hubbard assumed his current appointment as Commanding Officer of HMCS Corner Brook in May 2025 and then deployed on Op LATITUDE.

LCdr Hubbard resides in Victoria, BC with his daughter, Anna, where, when the exigencies of the service permit, he has been known to attempt skiing, diving, and golf.
