SOVs & Offshore Wind

19 Jan 2026 11:00AM - 12:00PM Online Branch UK/North West England & North Wales

The North West England & North Wales Branch of The Nautical Institute is pleased to present its first webinar of 2026 with an exploration of Bibby Marine’s pivotal role in offshore wind operations and the evolution of Service Operation Vessels (SOVs).

Key topics will include:

  • How SOVs have transformed turbine maintenance and logistics, from early support vessels to today’s advanced, sustainable designs
  • Bibby’s original WaveMaster series
  • Market trends driving SOV development
  • Future opportunities (with a focus on green technologies - in particular, Bibby’s newbuild electric SOV).

Attendees will gain insights into how these vessels enable efficiency, safety and sustainability in the growing offshore wind sector.

Our Speaker:

Steve Drysdale is Commercial & Client Accounts Manager at Bibby Marine Ltd and brings over 15 years of experience in commercial positions within the offshore energy maritime industry. This includes more than 10 years dedicated to supporting operations and maintenance, as well as construction activities on offshore wind farms, focusing on marine accommodation and transfer solutions.

In his current role, he is tasked with identifying opportunities for Bibby Marine’s SOV fleet and overseeing existing contracts with major players in both the traditional and renewable energy sectors. Additionally, as the Chair of the Operation Zero Vessel Working Group, he coordinates stakeholders across the offshore wind value chain to achieve the goal of decarbonising support vessel operations.
