Maritime Week Africa 2026
In 2025, Maritime Week Africa (MWAF) was held in Mauritius, where discussions centred on traditional bunkering in Africa and the Indian Ocean, the ongoing energy transition, and the impact of geopolitics on voyage patterns and fuel demand. The event also examined the fiscal and legal challenges that have hindered South Africa’s potential as a leading bunkering hub.
In 2026, MWAF will build on these discussions, focusing again on the environmental and geopolitical issues raised in Mauritius while re-examining the factors that continue to hold South Africa back. With important contributions expected from South Africa’s Department of Transport, Transnet National Ports Authority, SAMSA, and the South African Revenue Service (SARS), along with key stakeholders from the supply chain, the conference will provide a platform to explore viable, long-term solutions for the region’s bunkering future.
The conference programme will cover both traditional and emerging fuels, new technologies and regulations, and market developments across Africa, offering a forensic look at the fiscal, legal, and operational challenges impacting South Africa’s bunkering market.
In addition to the flagship conference, Maritime Week Africa 2026 will include:
- A specialist training course
- Two networking lunches
- Two evening receptions
- And a relaxing waterborne tour of Cape Town Harbour
Now moving to its fabulous new oceanfront venue, the Radisson Collection Hotel, Waterfront Cape Town, MWAF26 promises not only a content-rich programme but also unforgettable networking experiences set against one of the world’s most spectacular backdrops.
