Italy’s Alternate Permanent Representative at the IMO visits our HQ

Earlier this month we welcomed Captain Giuseppe Spera Ph.D, Head of the Maritime Office at the Italian Embassy in London and Italy’s Alternate Permanent Representative at the IMO in our office.

A senior coastguard officer, former Harbour Master, and leading authority on illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing, Captain Spera has spent the past year leading Italy’s engagement at the IMO. His visit provided an excellent opportunity for wide-ranging discussions on advancing regulation and enhancing international safety measures for issues directly affecting seafarers.

Following a tour of our London facilities, Captain Spera was presented with a copy of our 50th Anniversary book as a memento of the occasion.

We look forward to building on this productive exchange and strengthening collaboration between The Nautical Institute and the Italian delegation at the IMO.
