The conference was chaired by Prof Dr Adam Weintrit FNI, Rector of Gdynia Maritime University and Chair of The Nautical Institute Polish Branch and hosted esteemed professors and experts from 83 countries.
The event focused on Marine Navigation and the Safety of Sea Transportation, a theme that perfectly reflects the Institute’s commitment to operational excellence, knowledge and leadership within the maritime profession.
A broad range of peer-reviewed papers sparked meaningful discussion on important and emerging topics such as:
- Artificial Intelligence (AI)

- Green shipping and inland navigation
- GNSS and offshore technologies
- Ship routing and maintenance
- Human factors, MET, and the workload on seafarers
Capt. Patraiko’s keynote challenged the audience to think about situational awareness in this new era: it's not only about adopting technology, but also making sure it works effectively and reliably.
