This series will launch with a deep-dive discussion with Captain James Foong MBA FNI AFRI, a serving Master from Malaysia.
About James
James is an active sailing Master, commanding cargo ship deployed in the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans. With 18 years in the maritime industry, he has a strong interest in marine navigation and stays updated on its advancements.
Previously, he served as a Group Lead Auditor in the corporate, focusing on safety procedures for ship navigation. An advocate for marine navigation, he shares insights on social media and provides technical advice in other institutions. In 2016, he was the youngest Master Mariner certified by the government of New Zealand and took command of a ship within three years.
He holds an MBA in Shipping & Logistics from Middlesex University London. In 2022, James was elected Associate Fellow of the Royal Institute of Navigation (RIN), where he works closely with the Chair of the PMNG to promote best practices in marine navigation. He also volunteers with RIN’s M&F Committee, helping to review memberships.
