Fatigue: What do we need from the IMO?
The London Branch of The Nautical Institute is delighted to host its next Joint Technical Meeting (JIM) on 4 November, on the subject of fatigue at sea.
Ten years ago, two major studies on seafarer fatigue (the HORIZON project and MARTHA study) concluded...
Yet, the problem very much persists today. Now, the IMO is undertaking a scoping exercise to inform ongoing reviews of the ISM Code and STCW.
This seminar will explore why this is significant, implications for personal and operational safety, and what the IMO urgently needs to do about it:
- What lessons came out of HORIZON and MARTHA?
- What are seafarers telling The Nautical Institute’s STEER Project in regards to fatigue?
- What is being discussed at the IMO?
- How can the IMO effectively regulate to reduce fatigue?
