Support The Nautical Institute rowing team as they take on this spectacular annual shipping industry showdown. Competing at this years' OSCAR Dragon Boat Race alongside 30 elite teams, the crew will be rowing not only for pride but also to help raise funds through this fantastic maritime event.

The Nautical Institute is proud to be taking part in the 2026 OSCAR Dragon Boat Race, one of the maritime industry's most anticipated charity events. Held at the Docklands in East London, the event brings together up to 30 teams from across the shipping sector for a day of friendly competition, teamwork, networking and fundraising. Alongside the racing, participants and supporters can enjoy food, refreshments, quayside entertainment and a vibrant atmosphere that attracts hundreds of people from across the maritime community.

Leading the charge for ‘Team Nautical’ will be our Head of Publications, Steven Gosling, who will be swapping editorial deadlines for paddle strokes as captain of the Institutes’ crew. With determination high and training well underway (or at least enthusiasm!), the team is ready to represent The Nautical Institute with plenty of energy, camaraderie, and maritime spirit.

As a global professional body dedicated to supporting maritime professionals and promoting the highest standards of professionalism, competence, and safety, we believe it is important to be actively involved in events that bring the industry together. The Dragon Boat Race is a chance to step away from conference rooms and computer screens, strengthen relationships with industry friends and partners, and demonstrate the power of teamwork in action.

We'll be paddling hard, having fun and flying the Institutes’ flag with pride.
