This brand new series Bridge Resource Management (BRM) expands upon, updates and replaces our longstanding, globally respected Bridge Team Management publication (2003).

Complementary to IMO Model Course 1.22, the new series takes a holistic view of BRM, exploring both human and technical resources on the modern-day bridge.

Each volume explores what good BRM looks like – not simply to avoid accidents but to pursue operational excellence, and promotes a practice in which people operate with quiet effciency, effectively supported, fully informed and in control.

Featuring two inseparable and interdependent volumes:

BRM Volume 2: Voyage planning

Voyage planning is a cornerstone of safe navigation and good BRM. This volume explores all aspects of preparing and executing a plan – one that considers all known information, establishes margins of safety and defines clear operational limits that allow for timely interventions.

This guide illustrates that good voyage planning and effective BRM avoids single-person failures when the bridge team anticipate, mitigate, challenge, react and respond, promoting the working together of human and technical resources in harmony.
