Anchor Wire Broke
Report No. 200314

While in a four point mooring alongside a platform, the weather deteriorated to 6 -8 foot seas and 20 knot winds. As a result of "snatching", the port bow anchor wire parted at the sheave. The vessel swung round to starboard and, before the engine could be started, the vessel gangway access platform contacted the boat landing, broke loose and was lost to sea.

Preventative Action

In rough weather conditions it is advisable to pull out from the platform and find a safe anchorage until the weather abates.
