Technical Seminar - Going carbon-neutral
The North West England & North Wales Branch of The Nautical Institute is delighted to announce its first event of the New Year on the theme of 'going carbon-neutral': decarbonisation and operational sustainability.
In an effort to uncover exactly what companies, operators and institutions are doing to reduce their environmental impact, this interactive seminar will use real-world case studies to illustrate best (and perhaps even worst) practice, inform debate, and inspire future changes and new ideas.
Speakers will be asked the question: What actual policies have you introduced to move your ship/company/organisation/self towards being carbon-neutral?
Each speaker will have just six minutes to:
- outline the initiative(s)
- explain the main [non-legal] driver(s)
- explain the actual [as against intended] impact(s)
- summarise the financial and carbon saving(s)
- describe what education or (re)training was required
- describe whether any resistance was met (and, if so, how it was overcome)
- outline any future plans/needs
Panellists will include:
Ben Monks – Svitzer UK
Mark Whitehead – Wind Cat Work Boats
Peter Aylott – UK Chamber of Shipping
Jay Illingworth – Port of Fremantle, WA
This is an online only event.
