Singapore Branch Annual Conference 2025
The Singapore Branch of The Nautical Institute is hosting its annual conference on 17 July on the theme of 'Maritime 4.0: Embracing Digitalisation, Sustainability and Wellbeing'.
This year's conference will bring to the forefront critical conversations shaping the future of the maritime sector. Attendees can expect in-depth discussions across three key pillars: Navigation, Sustainability, and Seafarer Wellbeing — all of which are vital to the evolving landscape of the industry.
Navigation
The future of maritime navigation takes centre stage through a debate-style discussion. Topics include the rise of autonomous shipping, the introduction of ECDIS S-100, and the integration of AI in navigational systems. The session will also explore the legal and ethical responsibilities of pilots in a digital navigation environment.
Sustainability
As the industry shifts towards greener operations, we’ll discuss the risks involved in adopting future fuels and how we can better prepare seafarers for these transitions. The panel will also cover the emergence of electric harbour ferries and explore the potential of nuclear energy in maritime applications.
Seafarer Wellbeing
Ensuring the welfare of maritime professionals is more important than ever. We’ll address current wellbeing challenges, the push for gender equality, and whether cadet training meets today’s standards. Additional focus will be on promoting mentoring, and increasing awareness and access to wellbeing services available for seafarers.
