The Scandinavia Branch of The Nautical Institute is delighted to host its Autumn Seminar in Malmö on 2 October, with the generous support and cooperation of the Seamen’s Church in Malmö and the Seafarers’ Chaplaincy.

On the theme of Crew Resource Management (CRM), the Branch will explore the history and implications of CRM for safe leadership and operational performance, its role in accident investigations (and indeed accident prevention), and the behavioural trends underlying good situational awareness, communication and team management on the bridge in an age of fast-developing technologies, drivers of fatigue, security threats and more.

Speakers will include:

  • Martin Hernqvist (All Academy International AB) | The fundamentals of CRM – How it all started: Development, past present and future
  • Hans Hederström (Marine Consultancy Group AB) | Maritime Safety Leadership: What is it, why do we need it, and how to establish safety leadership
  • [Speaker tbn] (MTO Säkerhet AB) | Is it humbug, or is there science behind the theory of human behaviours?
  • Jörgen Zachau, Senior Maritime Accident Investigator (SHK) | CRM from an accident investigation perspective: Recent and past cases in Sweden

There will then be an optional after-seminar lunch at Malmo Live.
