The South West England Branch of The Nautical Institute is pleased to annouce its next presentation by Stephen Ashdown - Marine Engineer at Serco Marine Services.

A little background...

The tug SD Adept was built in 1980 (384 GT, 39m overall length, beam 9m). A 25,000-hour overhaul of its Voith Schneider propeller was recently carried out in Devonport - but had its challenges...

Stephen went to sea as a cadet in 1997 with P&O Containers (later P&O Nedlloyd). He also sailed with P&O Ferries and AWSR. Since 2014, he has worked for Serco Marine Services on the ex-RMAS tugs.

 

This is a hybrid event open to members only, held online and at the City College Oceansgate in Plymouth.

Parking is free outside the building and light refreshments will be available.
