Maritime Casualty Investigation Review - Verity / Polesie (German Bight)

The Germany Branch of The Nautical Institute is pleased to host its next hybrid seminar, in collaboration with the Association of German Shipmasters and Ship Officers (VDKS), on the maritime casualty investigation into the collision between VERITY and POLESIE in the German Bight.

As lead investigator for this case, Hon Secretary Lea Beyling MNI will present the findings of the investigation and explain how the accident was analysed by the Federal Bureau of Maritime Casualty Investigation (BSU).  The presentation will provide an opportunity to look beyond the facts of the accident and gain insight into the investigation process, analysis and conclusions.

Following the presentation, the Branch will invite an active and open discussion with all participants.  We encourage attendees to share their views on the accident, discuss the lessons / takeaways from the case, and consider a key practical question: How would you have handled the situation as OOW?

The aim is to create an open forum for professional exchange, different perspectives and practical learning from this casualty.
