Journeying to the Ice at the End of the World

12 May 2026 06:30PM - 08:00PM Hybrid Branch UK/North Scotland

The North of Scotland Branch of The Nautical Institute is pleased to host its next technical seminar on the theme of Arctic ice navigation.

About the Speaker - Capt Maiwenn Beadle MNI (Master 3000, Ice Pilot & Polar Explorer)

With 35 years of yachting and expedition cruise vessel experience and 12 years specialising in Alaskan and Northern Arctic waters, Captain Beadle's experience is off the charts - literally.

For the last eight years, she has been running icegoing yachts in the High Arctic - making expeditions to the very top of the world, exploring the difficult waters of the Northwest Passage (three times), and taking a scientific expedition into the uncharted fjords of East Greenland on the 72M A1 Ice Classed Nansen Explorer.

She is not only a seasoned Ice Pilot who loves mentoring and sharing her knowledge, but a highly experienced Master Mariner and natural explorer following in the wake of heroes.  She is a proud member of The Explorers Club, whose alumni range from Ernest Shackleton to Buzz Aldrin and Jane Goodall, is a Member of and holds Level 2 Ice Navigator Certification from The Nautical Institute.

This is a hybrid event for members only.
