The talk – Skylar’s interests lie in how people interact with the marine environment and, in turn, how environmental policies and governance interact with coastal communities and marine-dependent people. Her current research seeks to understand the state of mental health in the commercial fleet, as well as identify some of the key drivers of both poor mental health and positive mental wellbeing.
The speaker – Skylar is a marine social scientist at the University of Exeter, where she is completing her PhD on mental health in commercial fisheries in England. She has a background in Marine Biology (BSc) and Marine Ecosystems and Governance (MRes).
