The Nautical Institute North East of England Branch is part of the international Nautical Institute which exists to promote high standards of knowledge, qualification and professional competence for those in control of sea-going craft and those connected with the maritime profession, both afloat and ashore.

The Branch is made up of a very diverse group of maritime professionals, both seagoing and shore-based, who live, work or have an interest in the North East of England area, which runs from the River Tweed, southwards to the Cleveland Hills and stretching westwards about halfway across the country.

The Nautical Institute branch in the North East of England provides a local professional focus in which Members and guests are an integral and welcome part. Membership of the branch is open to any Member of the Nautical Institute of any grade resident in the area and initial allocation to a branch is automatically arranged on first joining the Nautical Institute.

We encourage anyone with an interest to come along to any of our meetings or our regular social events – you will be made welcome. Our meetings are open to members and non-members alike – in fact, anyone with a nautical interest!
