Iberia

Welcome to the Iberia Branch of The Nautical Institute!

We exist for and and by the efforts of members in mainland Spain and Portugal, as well as Gibraltar, the Balearics, Canaries, Azores and Madeira.

Our branch encompasses over 3650 nm of coastline, includes approximately 60 ports (visited regularly by vessels of every conceivable type), three predominant marine administrations, two national hydrographic offices, numerous Traffic Separation Schemes - and a rich maritime heritage in one of the major maritime crossroads of the world.  It is also home to the European Maritime Safety Agency, based in Lisbon - a vital component of the framework for ensuring lasting maritime security in Europe and beyond.

As our membership is distributed across such a wide area, we aim to establish a programme of technical and social meetings at key locations in order that members can meet physically as regularly as possible.  We are also exploring hybrid options, which will help us keep the dispersed membership connected and engaged throughout the year.

To learn more please get in touch at iberia.branch@nautinst.org - we would love to hear from you.
