The Nautical Institute (Cyprus Branch) was established in 1993 after it was recognised that the Cyprus Ship management industry supported a significant number of members living and working on the island.

In March 1993 Captain Peter Bond sent out letters to all known members on the Island suggesting the formation of a local Branch. As such the first formal meeting was held in his house in May 1993 and the Founding Fathers of the Branch, who attended that meeting are listed. The records of that meeting are attached. The first Annual General Meeting (AGM) was held in May 94.
