August 2016 - Panama Canal Advisory to Shipping A-43-2016 reiterates the importance that the information transmitted by the vessels automatic identification system (AIS)is complete and accurate. Monitoring AIS messages on vessels transiting the Panama Canal shows many were transmitting incomplete or incorrect data. The full advisory notice can be downloaded HERE

November 2011 - MGN 438 Consolidated European Reporting System (CERS) - Exemption Arrangements under the Merchant Shipping (Vessel Traffic Monitoring and Reporting Requirements) - Draws attention to entering the number of persons onboard into the AIS unit on vessels engaged on scheduled services

December 2010 - The General Lighthouse Authorities[1] (GLA) have commenced roll out of AIS AtoN at selected fixed and floating stations on the coasts of Great Britain and Ireland. This notice from Irish Lights offers some guidance to mariners on the purpose of AIS AtoN and what they may expect to see on some of the available displays.
