Vessel Structure and Ballast Tank Inspection

To achieve longer dry-docking intervals, there is greater need for a programme of regular inspection of critical areas and increased vigilance by the crew to ensure that corrosion or other defects that could affect structural stability are identified at an early stage.

The aim of the course is to give all candidates a clear and practical idea of the types of defects that could occur to affect the ship's structure and know exactly where to look and what to look for, and how to report faults.

The course consists of:

  • 8 modules
  • Glossary
  • Tests after each module, and a final test
  • Optional written assignments
Target Audience: This course is intended for all crew on board ship and for shore staff involved in the supervision and scheduling of maintenance work on container ships.
