Safe Container Operations Training

The worldwide boom in container transportation by sea has benefited many countries. However, it is estimated that up to 10,000 containers a year worldwide are involved in collapsed stow accidents on ships. Such incidents cause serious problems to these vessels, to their crew, the ship operators and cargo owners.

The aim of this program is to help users understand how to plan and carry out stowage of containers effectively. They will appreciate the importance of following correct procedures when contributing to, preparing and carrying out a safe Stowage Plan. Keeping to correct procedures at all times will help to reduce the number of incidents involving collapsed stows at sea.

Target Audience:
  • Ship operators'
  • Central Stowage Planners
  • Terminal Stowage Planners
  • Ships' officers and crew members with stowage duties
  • The course is also of benefit to supervisors, managers and others who work in terminals, as well as those working for ship operators and container operators.
