Solutions to the Problems of Implementing the Ballast Water Management Convention
Supported by the GEF-UNDP-IMO GloBallast Partnerships Programme
The IMarEST's 6th Ballast Water Technology will have a distinctly different flavour this year - and not only because the Convention has finally been ratified.
To complement the ever-increasing commercially focused events on this topic, the IMarEST is taking a new approach. This conference, at IMO headquarters, will provide a highly technical look at the challenges faced and aims to give sound, objective advice on scientific issues.
"We wanted to modify the format that has become so prevalent at industry conferences and instead take a more question-based and participatory approach that really draws delegates into the conversation and helps them really contribute to solving some of these problems," explained IMarEST Technical Director, Dr Bev MacKenzie, who was instrumental in planning the event.
The outcomes of this industry-leading event will inform policy makers and legislators in making effective decisions. They will also provide support to ship owners, operators and crew.
