Logbook Guidance
Please read the correct Logbook Guide to help you complete your DP Logbook. There are two Logbook Guides (see below), as we now have a new style logbook. So please ensure that you download the correct version of the Guide.

Many applications for DP certificates are unsuccessful because the online application has not been completed, logbooks are completed incorrectly or incorrect documentation has been provided. Follow the relevant Logbook Guide to ensure that your logbook can be processed quickly and your certificate issued as soon as possible.
The online application must be completed before any documents are sent into The Nautical Institute's offices. For assistance with completing this please see our Online Application Guide. Once the online application has been completed, please post/courier your logbook, signed PDF, original signed and stamped confirmation letters for ALL seatime (including familiarisation) and any other supporting documents to:

Upgrading Limited Certificates
If you currently hold a Limited DP certificate and would like to upgrade to a Full/Unlimited certificate then you must meet the following criteria:
- 60 days DP watchkeeping time on board a DP2 or 3 vessel (must be verified on original signed and stamped company information letter)
- Section F Upgrade form signed off on DP2 or 3 vessel
Please note that the following cannot be used to upgrade your DP certificate:
- DP1 watchkeeping time
- DP2 or 3 watchkeeping time accumulated before gaining your Limited certificate
- Intensive simulator courses
